WORDS OF WISDOM

http://www.manystuff.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/aolw-logo-460.jpg

I've been currently busy with the brand, pouring my thoughts and feelings, i came across this page when making my swing tags, and made think about the words, why we use words, the power of words,

i'm dyslexic so words have always been a trouble for me, spelling words back to fronts, dysgraphia and the lot, so i guess making a brand that words orientated is challenging, i'm currently read a book by Ernest Hemingway
and i came across this quote

......Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don't know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use.

simple words says it all, everyone can understand clear and to the point, and more eloquent a big word,

anyway laboremus (latin for lets get to our work)

lots more to do,

if your interested have a look at this page, it's filled with quotes about the beauty of WORDS from  my favourite writers, poets and public figures,

enjoy

POEMS- The Tyger

Since this brand is inspired by William Blake (1757 – 1827)
i thought i'll keep my side of the promise and read a poem which i'll like to Share with you all,

its my fave one of his, its called the Tyger,

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

............................................................................................................................................................

now poetry is kinda new to me still, so i wouldn't be confident in explaining this all meant especially to me, but here a link of Ed friedlander explaining the hidden meaning simply and beautifully.

http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/takingliberties/images/634blaketygerbig.jpg

here is picture of the original work of the poem, i wanted to point out the crossing out of words, and black out lines, as he carefully choose his words, (it reminds me of  the saying nine thoughts to every word) also that fact the poem begins towards of this paper, he draws a separate line and begins anew like inspiration just hit him,as he was writing another poem.

Til next time,

Sebby

PENDANTIC PACKAGING

I recently witnessed my younger Brother who bought some T-shirts arrive in the post, i remember how grainy and scratch up and the t-shirt was left roughed up, i decided on behalf of William Blake himself,
to find a new way to come about packaging, anyway this is my answer,

yeah you may its just a box, and your right it is, but i wanted to make something you kinda wanna keep afterwards just like a Mcdonalds toy.

CREATIVE PROCESS 2

Here some of the T-shirts i designed for the first Range of Williams and Blake,
they'll soon be available in mid-March, however there very limited, and we'll feature the "Dickens Tag" (see creative process one)
available soon in march
 available in summer

CREATIVE PROCESS 1

So I've been busy designing and sourcing the web for the best materials for the limited range of T-shirts soon to be Release, in soo far, i've design 40tees, learnt 231 different kind of fonts, created my font,
understood with different kind of cotton there are for great t-shirt, and best of all read some great literature(will share in another post)

in so far, i've just got my neck tag which will feature on the W&B tees, i thought it'll be Great to add some humour (Voltaire influence)

i decided to opt for a humorous neck tag feature a stab(introduction really) to a writer i've only recently just been introduce too,
Charles Dickens

i was going to use this one
but i thought the dickens suited better,
maybe someone will be like who's dickens?
(as i said introduction/discovery)

WHO IS WILLIAMS AND BLAKE?

the inspiration behind the brand Williams & Blake,
the inspiration

Williams and Blake was inspired by my teenage years, when i was younger i  hated the thought of reading books, i thought as kids may think then books are boring, its wasn't until had a great teacher(and friend)called Mr daisaku Ikeda who piped my thrist for reading (that was in 2005),  Mr Ikeda stated "that reading is a skill that ONLY a  Human being can do" i found this very fascinating ordinary yet Extraordinary. reading allows us to see thousands of year into the past, learn from great think such as: Goethe, socrates, Alexander Dumas. enter a world where still seems to pause, have an adventure with unlimited possiblities, i guess i really wanted to celebrate that, LITERATURE, which are WORDS which triumph human creativity, whether spoken, sung or Written.

the name william and blake itself comes from a silly little promise i made to the great English literature poet and painter William Blake (1757 - 1827) in which i was looking for a stage name for which my mum suggest Blake after the poet, at that point i had no clue who he really was or famous for, that same night, i happened to run across his burial site (old street),  and asked "hey William you don't mind do you if borrow your name, promise to read a book" in which i took his momentarily silence as a yes,

I was contemplating on the name change but my recent friendship with the fellow singer/songwriter Dele williams in which i share alot of escapades with reminded me of the term WILLIAMS AND BLAKE,

With this name i hope to honour a tremendous writer/painter and a great friendship and promote Great wisdom of Literature not only to myself to any consumers.
